Keeena graduated cum laude with an LLB from the University of the Free State. She went on to complete her Master of Laws (LLM) in International Economic Law, with a strong academic focus on the regulation of international trade and economic cooperation.

Her LLM research concentrated on the legal mechanisms governing free trade between nations, culminating in a dissertation titled “Dispute Settlement Mechanisms in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement: Lessons from the WTO Crisis.” Her work critically examined the efficiency of the AfCFTA’s dispute resolution system in contrast with the now-defunct WTO appellate mechanism. She argued that the effectiveness of the AfCFTA’s dispute resolution process is central to realising the agreement’s overarching goal, boosting intra-African trade to stimulate economic growth across the continent and warned that a weak enforcement framework may undermine this transformative vision.

Keeena brings both academic rigour and a continental outlook to her legal practice, with a deep interest in the intersection of trade law, regional integration, and sustainable economic development in Africa.
